History

OUR MISSION:

“Our responsibility is to the members of the communities that we serve. We strive to be a model of excellence within the EMS system, through outstanding performance and commitment. We are committed to providing the best possible patient care and transportation services available, through continuous pursuit of innovative ideas and quality services throughout every department of our company. We strive to provide the highest standard of care while continuing our constant pursuit of helping those in need.”

We are a 501(c)(3) community-based, non-profit corporation founded in 1948 by a group of seven resident volun-teers in the small community of Joshua Tree, CA. Growing with the needs of the community, we began hiring Emergency Medical Technicians in the early 1970s, and by the early 1980s we had progressed to offering Advanced Life Support level care. With Paramedics not being integrated in every state until 1977, we are one of the founders, and therefore leaders, in providing Paramedic level service within our desert communities. Currently, we are a non-tax based 9-1-1 provider that responds to over 5,200 calls per year and cover 2,700 square miles.
